Elephants are my favorite animal for many reasons, one of them being the fact that they are vegetarians like me. To me, elephants represent loyalty, kindness, and positivity. When I went to travel in Thailand, I got the privilege to go to an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai. Getting to learn so much about these gentle creatures, and being able to appreciate them being in their natural habitat taught me so much. The sanctuary told us stories about every individual elephant and how they were rescued from abusive owners that used them for tourist attractions. These sanctuaries pay thousands of dollars to free them from circuses and other tourist attraction sites where they are beaten, chained and often starved.
